Evening event on 23 September at
Kunsthaus Dresden | robotron-Kantine

We warmly invite you to an inspiring evening at the robotron-Kantine – an architectural witness to transformation and new beginnings.

During short guided tours, you will have the opportunity to discover this remarkable place, learn more about its history, and experience its current photography exhibition. A light meal and drinks will be provided, offering space for informal conversation and exchange in a convivial atmosphere.

The exhibition on view that evening, What are we doing. Images in times of crumbling certainties (original title: Was tun wir. Bilder in Zeiten zerfallender Gewissheiten) explores photography as a professional, artistic, and social practice today.

Created in collaboration with the photographers of the OSTKREUZ agency, the exhibition presents works by the currently 26 active members of the renowned East German photography collective. It brings a deep appreciation of the photographic image into dialogue with urgent questions about the media conditions of production and the algorithms that shape the circulation of photography.

What responsibility do photographers bear today? Which images can make visible the gradual ecological changes and social transformations of our world amid the rapid flow of reels and the power of algorithms?

Join us for an evening of visual discovery, reflection, and conversation in one of Dresden’s most distinctive architectural spaces.
